Genius Digital Nomad

We are a company where our people come first. We are consistently looking for ways to enhance the working experience of our employees. We provide them with the best IT equipment, training and development, health insurance, employee assistance program etc. We are a work from home organisation. This has many benefits and few drawbacks and we encourage our teams to explore the world and work from different locations. By having no offices we keep our operating costs low which allows us to pass savings onto our customers.

At the heart of this is our flexible working ethos. We expect 7 hours per day work from our staff and that can happen whenever they like. The only thing we ask is that should something urgent come up during UK standard working hours, that they are available to help out.

#wework offices are found globally and are an excellent resource for digital nomads

The standard working day for us is 0900 to 1700 with an hour for lunch. We are constantly in touch with each other via Microsoft Teams, and try to get together in person once a quarter. Some of our teams work from 0800 to 1600 and only take 30 minutes for lunch giving them Friday afternoons off. We have helped our employees work from the UK, Greece, Dubai, Spain and Australia. We wanted to highlight the fact that we have made it work for our Design Engineer, Emily, to work from Perth!

Emily asked us if we would support her working from Australia for two months. We checked the time difference and she would be +8 hours working in Perth. She asked if she could start at 0400 UK time and finish at mid day. For her, that meant she could get up in Australia, enjoy her passion for cycling and surfing in the mornings and then work from midday her time through to 2000 in the evening.

Our Design Engineer Emily living her best life when we supported her working remotely from Australia :)

Our design team is growing and we have plenty of cover during normal hours in the UK. We can also stack work for Emily during our afternoons, as well as chasing up requests for information from our customers so she has everything she needs to hit the ground running while we are all asleep. She is able to focus 100% with little distraction in Australia and uses the #wework offices to get social interaction and variety.

We have also supported our General Manager Sarah working from Greece, Spain and Dubai. She managed to fit all three countries in during one year and has plans to travel extensively in the future.

We wanted to share this story to encourage other companies to think outside of the box and allow their most valuable asset - their teams - to work flexibly, enjoy an amazing work / life balance and literally live their best life!

If you have any more ideas on how we can be the best employer possible, drop us a comment below and please follow our company page. We are on a mission to prevent our planet from catching fire. Come with us on our journey as we grow.
