Case Study: Sydney Street, London
We partnered with consultants in Sydney Street District Residents' Association, Kensa Utilities, and Cagni Williams Associates to deliver a feasibility study for a mixed-use ambient loop GSHP network in central London.
Our role:
- Conducted detailed geological analysis to confirm favourable conditions for both open and closed loop systems.
- Produced a borehole plan for up to 174 boreholes at 10m spacing, using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to avoid existing utilities.
- Provided heating demand estimation (1,743 kW peak load) and coordinated utility planning for conflict-free installation.
Result:
- The system is expected to serve approximately 75% of local dwellings, cutting greenhouse gas emissions significantly.
- Infrastructure lifespan of 100+ years with minimal maintenance, delivering long-term economic and environmental benefits.
